Permanent magnet (PM) motors are a type of electric motor that uses permanent magnets for field excitation. Using permanent magnets for excitation not only reduces power consumption, achieving energy savings, but also enhances the operational performance of motors. PM motors are one of the largest applications of permanent magnets. For instance, over two-thirds of the production of rare earth magnets is used in the manufacturing of various PM motors.
Magnetic assemblies used in PM motors are known as magnetic motor assemblies. Within the magnet industry, magnetic motor assemblies refer to magnetic rotor assemblies composed of permanent magnets, shaft, and core, or magnetic stator assemblies consisting of permanent magnets and housing. These assemblies are then integrated with other parts respectively to construct a PM motor, which facilitates high-speed, stable operation and produces torque that fulfills specified requirements.
