Before the rise of new energy vehicles, sensors were widely used in traditional fuel vehicles' power, chassis, and body systems. In recent years, with the continuous development of new energy vehicles, sensors have also played a very important role in their electronic control systems. Let's take a look at the most commonly used sensors in new energy vehicles.

Commonly Used Sensors in New Energy Vehicles

1. **Current Sensors**

Current sensors are mainly used in the battery management system, motor control drive, and onboard power supply of new energy vehicles. They can accurately manage the battery pack of the vehicle. For example, current sensors can detect the charging and discharging current of the vehicle. Open-loop current sensors using electromagnetic induction principles can provide overcurrent protection for charging and discharging currents, improving battery efficiency. Additionally, current sensors can collect real-time voltage and temperature data for each battery in the power battery pack, as well as charging and discharging currents and total battery pack voltage, preventing overcharging or over-discharging.

2. **Pressure Sensors**

Pressure sensors play a very important role in the vehicle safety management system. They can regulate airbags and are crucial components in the battery management system and brake assist system. The brake assist system uses pressure sensors to detect vacuum, while the battery management system uses them to monitor battery pack pressure for thermal runaway alarms.

3. **Speed Sensors**

Speed sensors are primarily used to measure speed, including the rotational speed of the vehicle's motor and the vehicle's driving speed. They are among the most commonly used sensors in vehicles.

4. **Acceleration Sensors**

Acceleration sensors are mainly used in vehicle body control, safety systems, and navigation systems. For instance, they are used in airbags, ABS anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability programs (ESP), and electronic control suspensions.

5. **Angular Velocity Sensors**

Angular velocity sensors, or gyroscopes, form the inertial navigation system together with acceleration sensors. They are key to determining the accuracy of the inertial navigation system in new energy vehicles.

6. **Environmental Perception Sensors**

Environmental perception sensors are the "eyes" of the vehicle, playing a major role in achieving assisted driving functions. They include onboard camera image sensors, ultrasonic sensors, millimeter-wave radars, and LiDARs.

7. **Gas Sensors**

Gas sensors can monitor various substances in new energy vehicles such as PM, temperature and humidity, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, VOCs, ammonia, hydrogen, and CO, increasing the vehicle's intelligence and enhancing safety and comfort.

8. **Temperature Sensors**

Temperature sensors mainly include those that detect battery temperature, monitor motor temperature, and are used in battery cooling systems.

These are the eight most commonly used sensors in new energy vehicles, playing crucial roles in various vehicle systems. Besides these, the onboard charger (OBC) and onboard DC/DC converter are also indispensable components in new energy vehicles.
